MIDE architetti's pink concrete residence curves around lush vegetation in italy

house with a large porch by MIDE architetti

In the lush surroundings of Sant’Elena, Italy, MIDE Architetti has built a house with simple lines and a large porch. The single-floor residence is clad in pink concrete, glass, and wood, and features large, open spaces with generous openings that create a seamless connection between the home and nature. An extended porch, embraced by curved walls, further enhances this inside-outside relationship, offering generous views of the nearby park, and providing a comfortable space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

strengthening the synergy between building and nature

MIDE Architetti (find more here) designed a single-floor house with a large open living space facing south. The living room is formed as a glass box that reflects the park, and it is protected by the large porch. The sleeping area is more introspective, with concrete walls and geometrical openings that frame the garden. The large flat roof unites all the rooms of the house and provides adequate protection from the sun and other weather elements.

The porch is characterized by light wells that bring in trees, strengthening the synergy between the building and the surrounding park. The materials used are deliberately limited to reinforce the project concept: glass, wood, and a reddish concrete hue, all connected by the Venetian terrazzo flooring.
