with wall to wall yellow, this fast food spot in mexico city can’t help but grab the attention of passersby. realized by cadena concept design – formerly known as cadena+asociados – de huevos is a gastronomic concept that brings exciting creations to the table based on a staple of mexican cuisine: the egg.

the new intervention takes its name from the food it sells as ‘de huevos’ literally translates from spanish to ‘of eggs’. the phrase is also a colloquial mexican expression meaning cool, awesome, or incredible. for example, ‘la fiesta estuvo de huevos’ means ‘the party was awesome!’

wonderfully versatile, the humble egg stars in an original, fresh and high-quality menu. the culinary possibilities of this staple food are explored in every way, responding to ‘fast-casual’ lifestyles and various times of the day. 

the design takes inspiration from chicken coops and street food stalls throughout mexico. the resulting space intends to be fresh and exciting, attracting people who are looking for accessible, high-quality mexican food. it also has a modular composition that allows it to be reconfigured to another context: different sidewalks in the city where a myriad of pedestrians commute on a day to day basis. ‘this place is de huevos!’ – cadena concept design
